JunkyardsFinder Sell a junk car

Titles and paperwork

Do junkyards take cars with no titles?

Some will, but only when state law lets them, and the car's age usually decides it. Tennessee and North Carolina let a yard buy an older car for scrap or parts with your photo ID and a signed statement. Texas lets a licensed used parts recycler buy an old car that has sat unregistered for years. Florida allows it only for a cheap, older derelict vehicle, on a state form you fill out with the yard. A Colorado recycler may take one with a state bill of sale or after holding it and checking the VIN. Expect the yard to check the car against stolen vehicle records first. If the car is too new to qualify, order a duplicate title before you sell.
